Andrew Lloyd Webber & Tim Rice’s mega-hit, Evita, will be presented by Cabrillo Music Theatre. Dates are Oct. 14, 15, 16, 20, 21, 22 & 23. Featuring a cast of 28, the musical will feature direction by Roger Castellano, choreography by Cheryl Baxter-Ratliff, music direction by Cassie Nickols and will be conducted by Dan Redfeld. This production also features the revised orchestrations by Andrew Lloyd Webber and David Cullen.
“A Hopeful Place – A Song Cycle for Soprano & Chamber Orchestra” is released on Navona Records (NV6045). With music by Dan Redfeld, text by John Gabriel Koladziej, the 65 minute, 9 movement song cycle features soprano Kristi Holden and the Hollywood Studio Symphony conducted by Mr. Redfeld.
Dan has been arranging and orchestrating an untitled Latin project for vocalist Christina Harding. Recording sessions are set for December at Capitol Records.
Dan continues his long association with LA Opera, co-music directing for the Voices for Tolerance Program through LA Opera’s Education & Community Engagement department.
“Across the Stars: The Film Music of John Williams for Solo Piano” is released on BSX Records. It features Mr. Redfeld as both soloist and arranger performing 15 tracks chosen from Mr. Williams vast catalogue.
Dan conducted a 10 piece band in selection from the 19th century for the Social Daunce Irregulars Social Grand Ball at the Pasadena Masonic Temple.
Andrew Lippa’s “The Addams Family” is presented by the Chaminade Players March, 4, 5, 6, 11, 12 & 13. Featuring a cast of 35, the show is directed by Yvette Bishop (Beauty & the Beast, Blood Bros. national tour) and choreographed by Bill Burns (Beauty and the Beast, The Producers) with music direction by Dan, who also conducts the 10 piece “Addams Orchestra”.
Announcement that the cover art for forthcoming CD release of “A Hopeful Place” has been designed by Dewynters LTD of London, the company responsible for such iconic images as Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, Miss Saigon, Cats, Sunset Blvd., Chess, Aspects of Love, Follies (London production) and numerous other West End musicals.
Dan arranges and music directs selections for a backers audition of “Lady Luxury”, a 1915 “lost” Broadway hit musical which director JJ Hickey is hoping to mount into a large stage production.
Dan music directs and conducts Nathan Wang’s “Orpheus” for LA Opera’s Education & Community Engagement department. Directed by Eli Villanueva, this is a modern retelling of the Orpheus story featuring Orson van Gay II, Cedric Barry, Danielle Bond and Leroy Villanueva.
