Music at Westwood presents their annual performance of George Frideric Handel’s “Messiah” on Friday, December 13th, 2019 at 8 pm at Westwood Presbyterian Church. The audience will join the Westwood Chancel Choir, six esteemed vocal soloists and the Westwood Chamber Orchestra (Elizabeth Hedman, concertmaster & Dr. Namhee Han, continuo), forming a 150 voice ensemble as part of the traditional “Messiah Sing-A-Long”, one of the few of events of its kind in the greater Los Angeles area.

Composed over a three week period in 1741, “Messiah” is a holiday favorite and regarded as the pinnacle of Handel’s oratorios. It includes many renowned arias and chorusses including the celebratory “Ev’ry Valley Shall Be Exalted”, the exuberant “Rejoice Greatly, O Daughter of Zion” and the majestic “Hallelujah” chorus.

The vocal soloists are Christina Borgioli (soprano), Devon Davidson (soprano), Nandani Maria Sinha (mezzo-soprano), Scott Noonan (tenor), Justin Brunette (tenor) and Matthew Lewis (bass). The entire evening, under the baton of music director Dan Redfeld, promises to be an exciting night celebrating the Advent/Christmas season.
